What is Radiation Therapy?

Radiation therapy is one of the primary treatments for cancer.  Modern radiation therapy utilizes precise and targeted high energy radiation to effectively kill cancer cells while protecting healthy tissues and minimizing side effects.

Will I Receive Radiation Therapy?

More than half of all cancer patients will receive radiation therapy sometime during their cancer journey.  Radiation therapy is often a part of a treatment course that aims to cure a particular cancer, but it can also be used palliatively to relieve symptoms such as cancer pain from bone metastases

Our Team

Our team consists of our board-certified radiation oncologist and a team of licensed radiation therapists who are all certified through the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.  Behind the scenes, our team also includes a certified medical physicist (American Association of Physicists in Medicine) and a nationwide network of certified medical dosimetrists (American Association of Medical Dosimetrists).

Our Equipment and Capabilities

Our radiation therapy delivery system currently utilizes a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator with the same specifications and standards as most academic centers and centers of excellence in the world.  We can deliver intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatments.  Our computer systems utilize the industry standard-setting Aria Oncology Information System and Eclipse treatment planning system.  We also have MRI and PET/CT imaging capabilities used for more precise radiation treatment planning.
